I have been reading about the stock intake being junk and staying clogged. I am guessing an aftermarket air intake is a must. Do y'all diy this intake or buy the name brand intake?

170 EFI won't stay running, won't take throttle

My daughter's "Zoom Buggy" as she calls it is getting cold shouldered. It'll start & die several times, will eventually sit & idle but as soon as you touch the gas pedal, it takes a dump. Once really warm, it'll run, but seems like it's not opening up as it should. Air filter and intake screen underneath are clean. Any ideas?

I bought a new tank for my 170 and my old fuel pump assembly barely doesn't fit. Did my pump expand on me? Close to an eighth of an inch. The nut works that keeps the pump in but I can't get the pump in without braking it. Has this happened to anyone or does anyone know what can be done?

Where to buy big wheel Kit

I dont like the spun aluminum ones. what something that looks nice, gives a little better off road ability but doesnt hurt performance too much.

Also, are the lift kits worth it? they seem pricey.

efi vs carb

have a 14 carb thinking of moving up to efi, he is to young for anything else yet. seems to be a few treads on problems with the efi ones. We rejetted and intaked one, little easier starting, occasional flooding in extremely rough areas.
Is the efi a big improvement? dealer was trying to tell me performance was a huge difference. easier starting would be a plus, and we are planning trip to colorado next summer, so not messing with carb would be a huge plus.
The rest of the machine seems to be the same pos, as the old one

My son recently backed into a vehicle and broke the rear plastic bumper piece. Any alternatives rather than the $150 Oem?? Also the right rocker panel is cracked. Like to find some rock sliders to hide it plus add strength so it won't happen again. I can't find either of these..... any one know any options????? Thanks!

I just picked up a 2011 rzr 170 for my kids and looking to gain some ground clearance with bigger tires. Has anyone tried to run a set of the steel rzr 570 wheels on their 170 with a set of adapters? I'm looking to save some coin since I have a set of practically new wheels and tires laying around.

Stator Removal

Hi everyone,

New here but have been on since I picked up a 2009 for my kids. Got a deal on it and have been working my way through things thanks to this site. I finally have the little machine running. Cold starts fires right up and runs great. Once warmed up it won't start again and no spark. Let it cool down it fires right up again. Definitely a heat sink issue. My guess is the stator as I get no spark when hot but have power to all components.

My question, is the stator removable with the motor in as the manual states or do you need to pull the entire unit? Is it simply pulling the stator housing cover and replacing the stator?

Thanks in advance for any help.

We bought a new 170 in Sept. My little girl might have put 20 hours on it. Over Thanksgiving it started blowing blue smoke. Took it to the dealer and they said Polaris has problem with defective air filters and they want to rebuild the top end. My concern is that after this is fixed I will eventually have issues with the bottom end. I have told them I want to whole motor replaced. Has anybody else had issue's with this. Also the chain tensioner keeps getting loose any ideas?

The spec I'm looking for is the stud size and thread that needs to be fit into the adapter. Im confident its the 10mm x 1.25", but i thought id ask before i purchase. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Carburetor needle clip spring

$

I bought a 2009 rzr 170 for my daughter and bought the Factory UTV intake for it. I took the carb apart to change the Jets and in the instructions it says to drop the needle clip down one notch. When I pulled the carb slide out to be able to remove the needle I lost hold of the spring and it shot off and I lost the order of how the pieces were in the slide.

My question is what holds the needle down in the slide? The spring doesn't touch it and I have a v shaped clip that was in the slide but cant figure out how that is supposed to hold the needle down.

Getting a RZR170 race ready -- tips, suggestions, parts?

The kids got a 2017 RZR170 for xmas. Trying to quickly build it so my 8 year old can race (The Dirt Series & Worcs) and play in Glamis. Can't find much info from the racers out there and would love any tips/suggestions.

So far, I've focused on safety and suspension. Here is what we've done (costly roughly $9,500 including the rzr):

FU2 cage, rigid doors, bumpers
Rugged short course radio
PRP 5 point harnesses
PRP seats (not yet installed)
FU2 long travel arms and LSR axle (not yet installed)
Window nets (not installed)

Next on the list:
Shocks
Tires/wheels
Then ???

Although he'll probably get smoked, I'm thinking of letting him race the beginner class a few times on a completely stock motor to get the feel of racing. So far, his only racing has been go carts at pole position.

Thanks in advance ... Brian

Starting checking out this forum a few years ago when considering buying a rzr 170 for my son. Went with a Honda Crf 70 instead. Started lurking again the past few months wanting to replace my daughters beat up hammerhead 80t go cart. Despite many negative reviews I went for it with a new 2017 170 in blue, also got the boy a crf125. So far very impressed with the 170. The dealership had the speed limiter set way to slow, immediately screwed the stop all the way in. My girl is 9 and weighs about 60. The 170 has all the power and speed she needs for the tight wooded trails around our property. Hope we don't have some of the reliability issues others have had.
